To Do list for the EXAM WARRIORS

Covid 19 is almost hitting a second wave and another list of restrictions in each state is about to be imposed. With already so much going around, students are stressed about Board exams that are just around the corner. Exams being online with the same syllabus is challenging for many but if organized and planned in advance, it can be fruitful.

Below mentioned are few tips to prepare for Pre- and on-going board exams:

1.     Revise your work
It is wise that you keep enough time to review your syllabus. Last minute studies are stressful and less productive.

2.    Take help from adults and friends
It is absolutely fine to take help from your friends, parents or teachers. Let all your doubts be cleared before the exams as it will make you more confident of the topic.

3.    Organize your schedule
As you are preparing for the revision of subjects, plan your day with combination of easy and                  difficult subjects, preferred and less preferred subjects, favorite and least favorite subjects.

4.     Keep intervals
It is important that you keep sufficient intervals between your studying time which includes meal            time and play time.

5.     Hobby
It is extremely important that you continue with your hobby even pre- and on-going exams.                    Hobbies like dancing, reading a story, playing a sport, going for a walk or organizing your                      cupboard should be continued. Engage in any kind of activity that makes you happy.

6.     Look after yourself
As its rightly said, health is wealth- taking care of yourself by following a healthy and nutritional           diet, keeping hydrated, exercise regime and adequate sleep of 8 -10 hours.

7.    Different methods of revising
Revising the same notes again and again could become boring and dull. Hence try out various                techniques like reviewing previous year’s question papers, drawing diagrams, mind maps of the             notes or healthy discussions with peers and friends will surely make it interactive and interesting            to strengthen the knowledge of the subject.

8.      Change in study area
With the on-going pandemic, we cannot venture out a lot but within our comfort zone, we can                 surely have different study areas like studying in living room when no one is around or walking             and revising a chapter in your room. Different background improves memory retention.

9.     Give a break to your eyes
Due to everything being virtual, our eyes are stressed too. It is essentially important that we follow        a routine of eye exercises.

10.     Exam’s essentials
As the exams approach, it is mandatory that you get all the information regarding the exams very            much in advance. Keep all the essentials like - exam hall ticket, timings of the exams, exam time            table, stationeries - very handy

Since the government has not yet declared whether the exams would be online or at the Centre, One of my favorite tip is – Have a travel buddy to the Centre who is punctual and jovial as that will motivate you to write your exams with the positive energy.

"Put your best effort on the exam and you will be rewarded with the success."

Correlation

Learn while you travel

Learning is always fun especially when it is while you are travelling. Travelling teaches many valuable things which we can apply in our work too. Below mentioned are few skills which I feel correlate at work and while you travel -
  • Keep calm : Delayed flights / trains; least preferred hotel rooms, always-complaining passenger and so on teaches you how to keep cool and enjoy the trip. Being adaptable to situations and circumstances also helps in managing stress.
  •  Time management:
This is one of the most important skills that we learn especially while travelling with children. Advance research on the places to visit and their working / opening hours could help in saving lot of time.
  • Visualization: When travelling with different groups of people, we learn how each individual thinks or feels about a place thus broadening our thinking too.
  • Planning: Imagine, it’s your toddler’s lunch time and you are in the middle of a boat ride where there is no food available. Timely planning could have avoided this situation where the toddler could have been fed before getting onto the ride.
  • Communication: It is very important to communicate in the right manner keeping in mind different cultures have different ways to interpret things. Always be a good listener to be able to communicate better while travelling.
  • Appreciation : As we travel, we also learn about different cultures of different countries. We enjoy listening to and discovering their history. Appreciating the same will enable us to adapt to different cultures easily.
  •  Make friends:
Making friends with strangers while on travel helps in understanding their culture better by learning their language, tasting their local food and so on. It is so amazing to discover how every individual from every culture is so unique and different.
  • Curiousness: The inquisitiveness to know about a place helps to improve our knowledge and enhances the cognitive skills too.
  • Be adventurist: It is good to experiment new ideas and experience things out of the comfort zone.

No matter where and how you travel, you are always learning something useful. Similarly, whatever work/ job you do, learning from mistakes & developing new skills takes place on a regular basis.

Dad - Dedicated And Devoted

" Any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a Dad. "

I, truely believe this.

Earlier( a decade ago) father's duty was to spend time with his children only on sundays since he was busy with his job or business on other days. Most of the fathers didnot remember how their child grew up. Fathers missed many important days of a child's life like first day at school, first performance on a stage, child's report days and many more. I have known families where father didnot know the child's grade.

But, now things are changing amazingly. Today most dads even change diapers. They are at par with moms. They love doing what they are doing.

Dads take kids to parks and play dates. They plan movies and even a short holiday with the child. Whether the mother is a working woman or a housewife, dads actively participate in a child's growth.
It feels so good to see Dads attending school's academic orientations, report days in large numbers. Few schools are even organising a father child day where the child goes with his papa n spend the day at school doing all fun activities.
Fathers too are very informative in imparting knowledge to the child on all possible topics.

Nowadays, dads are more like a friend than a father. Kids are so free with their fathers that they ask any questions to them without any hesitation. I donot remember ever calling my dad by his name (not even for fun). But today, kids give so many different names to their dads.

As most of the culture has pro's and con's , i would like to mention here that The western is influencing for good.

It is very important that the child should always respect his parents apart from being friendly with them.
